The Best Craft CMS Learning Resources in 2026
We first put this list together in 2018. A lot has changed since.
Some of the sites on it have closed, one newsletter has changed hands, and the official material has got much better. This is where we'd point a developer starting on Craft today, and where our own team still goes when something isn't clear.
The official documentation
The Craft documentation used to be what you read after a tutorial. Now it's the first place to look. It's versioned, so check you're reading the 5.x docs and not an older page a search engine turned up.
If you're new to Craft, the official getting started tutorial takes you from a local environment to a small working blog. Everything in it runs on the free Solo edition.
The knowledge base picks up the narrower questions the docs leave out, like particular hosting set-ups and upgrade gotchas.
CraftQuest
CraftQuest is Ryan Irelan's training library. It took in his earlier Mijingo courses, which were on our 2018 list. There are 90-odd full courses and over a thousand shorter videos and articles, and they're kept up to date with new Craft releases. It's a paid subscription. If you learn best from video, this is where to go.
The Craft Discord
When the docs don't cover your problem, ask on the Craft Discord. The community is generous with its time, and Pixel & Tonic staff are often around. Craft Stack Exchange is quieter than it used to be, but its archive still answers a lot of questions and still turns up in search.
The changelog
The Craft changelog is the record of what actually changed in each release. We write plain-English summaries for site owners, like this one for 5.10, but if you're the developer, read the original.
The Craft newsletter
John Morton's Craft Link List was on our original list. He handed it over to the Craft team, and it's now the official Craft newsletter, a monthly round-up of releases, plugins and community writing. It's the easiest way to keep up without trawling.
nystudio107
Andrew Welch's nystudio107 blog doesn't post as often as it used to. Its archive is still some of the most thorough writing there is on Craft performance, front-end tooling and SEO, and much of it still applies to Craft 5.
Dot All and Dot One talks
Pixel & Tonic run Dot All, the official Craft conference, and smaller Dot One community days. Talks from past events are linked from the events page. Recent ones have covered Craft 6 and its move to Laravel, so watch them before you plan a big upgrade.
